I'd like to create a Backup Image of my Windows 10 Home drive so that if anything goes south, I can just load up my image and not have to waste time installing a bunch of apps.
What software do you guys like for creating Backup Images of your hard drive?
Some of the software I've found is: Free!!
It has a number of useful tools to help fix windows boot issues, allows you to mount drive as an image and select individual files.
I cannot say that best software for windows 7 backup any other.
It is also faster than all of them in my tests.
If I had to put an order 1 Macrium Reflect Free 2 Easeus ToDo Free 3 Paragon 4 Clonezilla.
I would put the rest all about the same never tried ping, redo or driveimage.
Actually, the least flexible and worst of all I found was windows own system, but that is hardly surprising as it has not been developed at all since its inception in windows 7.
For most domestic use, little point in paying for paid versions.

Oddly, you're the only post I've seen recommending Easeus ToDo Free so far, but I'm going to check it out.
Then you make full image backups on a regular basis say monthly, or when you install new programs etc.
Of course, if you restored such a backup, you may need to redo some updates eg virus definitions, but this is normally not that arduous.
Backing up a data drive does not really need image backups, as simple copying using file explorer is even possible.
Images are more space efficient of course.
If you have a lot of data that changes frequently, then file history backup is a good tool as you can set it to backup changes automaticaly as frequently as you like, even as low as 15 minutes.
Occasionally use a different tool to reduce risk of failure.

I'm looking to create an image of my current Windows 7 Home setup lenovo Y580 laptop before upgrading to try out 10.
I plan on upgrading then doing the full clean install of windows 10 to give it a fair chance.
I don't have any important programs on my laptop, and those that I need I have a disc for anyways, but I'm more concerned about my internet bookmarks.
Also, is there anything I should do besides just creating the image?

You do a full backup say weekly, and then you can do daily differential images much smaller.
To restore back to a day, you restore full image and the differential image taken on particular day.

I assumed that each night's differential just updated the original backup.
If it is just data, you are better off using file history backup anyway.

I only do my images from a bootable thumb drive, I still don't trust 'live' imaging for some reason.
But I've had to restore my home server and my Surface Pro 3 and it's worked fine both times.
It's pretty polished and I don't mind paying for it though I believe I'm still using 2014 - no real reason to upgrade at this point.
I'm not claiming it's better than anything else on the list, just saying it works great for me and it's not terribly expensive either.
I clone one drive to another internal drive so in case the main one dies, I can use the second one as if nothing happened.
Tested the second drive and it works great.
There is always some kind of error that won't let me create the backup.
Feel free to use more space.

Original and most recent images are stored on a second external.
If someone is looking for a small and easy imaging program that doesnt require installation, i can highly recommend it.

I've heard some seriously mixed things about Acronis recently, but I used to use them a long, long time ago and I loved their software at the time.
Good to know there's a way to try them out.
Personally though, I mainly use Windows Server 2012 r2 Essentials' backup feature 99% of the time for this.

Incremental images are faster and more efficient, but tbh, differential images are pretty fast and fairly space efficient.
Where the paid versions come into their own is the ability to deploy images to dissimilar hardware.
