What Happened: I was using my laptop fine for a few month now.
I let a friend use it for a week and he 'somehow' got a virus.
I wasn't too stressed as i didn't have any personal information or anything important on it.
It loads up and for the most part works fine.
Here's the issues i have.
Problems: First off my resolution will not go above 1024 x 768.
Even though previously it was a lot higher, can't remember exact resolution, but was asus k53e wireless driver download than that.
I've Googled, searched these forums, and tried each solution out there.
Basically i think windows is not properly recognizing the hardware i have installed.
Because the laptop screen can go to a higher resolution, but windows won't recognize it properly.
Even Windows Aero isn't working properly, and the computer is marketed as a gaming laptop, so i know it has the graphical power.
Feel free to explain in detail as i'm pretty good with computers but this problem has me stumped.
And for a person that will not stop until something is fixed, its driving asus k53e wireless driver download crazy.
Thanks for help asus k53e wireless driver download advance.
So if there are any programs i need to download i have the ability to do so.
Hi, This sounds like a issue.
My first recommendation is to let Windows install all updates, including Service Pack 1 - the Windows are just as good as getting general hardware to work as the manufacturers drivres.
This might fix the bulk of the issues.
Let us know how you get on.
As you've re-installed Windows and not used an Asus recovery disc, you'll need to install for your hardware devices before they'll work correctly.
When you bought the laptop it should have had the facility for you to create a set of recovery discs, but because you've installed a new copy of Windows that facility no longer exists on your computer.
If you want a set of factory restore discs you would need to contact Asus for them.
All the i listed previously still do not work.
I wasn't sure what hardware i had in the wireless section, which was the first, and only, one i tried, so i downloaded all the drivers listed in wireless and tried them all.
Unfortunately none of them worked.
So i didn't bother trying the other categories.
Thanks for the help but still unable to get this working.
Does anyone know of a legit program i can use that tells me what hardware i have.
For example, lets me know if i have an Atheros wireless adapter as opposed to something else.
Thanks again for the help, and any future help.
Did you try a search on your computer's serial number at Asus support?
It should give you an accurate list of what you have installed.
You could download Belarc Advisor, which takes an inventory of your hardware, software and update status.
Do you have a user guide or manual that came with your computer?
Failing that, you need to get in touch with Asus and ask them for a set of recovery discs.
You can then restore your computer to its out-of-box factory state complete with all.
Having done that, you can then use Windows Anytime Upgrade to upgrade to your copy of Windows 7 Professional.
Sorry have been busy with family things and unable to respond.
I'm on my tablet at the moment.
But i will try this as soon as i get home.
Thank you and i will get back if it works.
The very first you have to install after doing a clean install is the Chipset driver for your laptop, next install the latest videothen sound drivers, then network drivers in that order.
Also, when i did the serial number search, it just gave the general information for the K53E model laptop.
No specific information for my laptop.
I also discovered that certain keyboard shortucts that are supposed to work from the hard ware, such as f5 and f6 being display brightness controls does not work.
And multi-touch gestures such as 2 finger scroll does not work, as it did before the fresh install.
Go to the manufacture's website look for support, i'm sure they have all the for your laptop.
Whenever you do a clean install the chipset motherboard drivers are the first you put in followed be the video drivers, then sound, then network.
But the chipset is the most important as it sets the motherboard to accept the rest of the drivers.
Appears the graphics and ethernet drivers did not install.
The ethernet card driver is the Atheros 9.
Drivers My laptop was given to me a year ago from my work with an install of Win 7 x64 Ultimate.
I'm sure that all the licensing is above board.
Last week, the hard drive started going bad.
So I purchased a new drive, and installed Win 7.
It used to have windows 7 home premium 32 bit on it from the factory.
I used to be able.
I installed windows on a different disk everything else remained the same, now the mouse and kb work.
Is there a known fix for this?
Now i'm already on 32-bit version of Windows 7 and so far happy with that.
But still, i remember just a couple of weeks ago!
There is no sound from the Asus microphone or speakers?
